Diary of an Mature Guy

Sitting in front of me is nobody, but there are a book and a laptop, belonging to a mature American guy, on a table. Slightly, I just opened the book and read some neat hand writing words, which is actually not a good attitude to do this.

Surprisingly, the book contains sharing story of his life. I didn't really expect that this man, who is aprobably in his late of 40's, a actory manager, and in which somebody told me that he has a problem with his wife at the moment, would write his life stuff on pieces of papers. Oh ya, human being is unique.

Did I Win a Lottery?

Saying 'I am lucky' for achieving something you don't believe it'll be on you is sometimes loosing memory how the energy you have spent for this. I did it. Yes, I used to say it, but my friend Andrian Liem reminded me that I have to appreciate myself by rembering how big the effort I have given to reach that dream.

Here I am in the U.S, a country I've ever dream to live in since I was in junior high school.

I ever failed 4 times in applying a two-month stay scholarship, but now I even made it for a year study. There is a will, there is a belief, there is a try . . . then it happens.

The Diplomatic Tips

Exactly two weeks ago, I grabbed my old job I used to do when I was a student, that is giving tourists a ride. This old job was kind of for refreshing.and not really bad to fill the time. Here the trip began. There were six motorbikes, six drivers, and six Germans as one big family taking the tour to Prambanan temple and the surrounding small ones. I got the head of the family who is tall and big on the belly, OMG. At first I called him Mr. Pizza with a laugh from both of him and me, which then an hour later he corrected his name as Dieter. It was really funny. Then I found out that he is a German diplomatic and once lived in Indonesia in the Soeharto reign. To him I got some questions since becoming diplomatic used to be my dream. One question I love the answer was "What specific skills should a diplomatic have?" and his answer was "NICE, OPEN, and TOLERANT", which is actually so simple, but frankly so meaningful. Yes, he is that nice humble person who ever faced and solved some difficult cases in the fall of Soeharto. And in the next two years, he will be an ambassador in which he wants Indonesia, Thailand, or Vietnam as the country to be in charge for. The last sentence as saying good bye he told me was "When you have become a diplomatic, you have to visit me in Berlin". "Yes sir, I will" I said.

Thak you, Mr. Dieter, for the tips and sorry for calling you Pizza.

An Unusual Massage

Today I went for a massage, the therapy one. It's Pak Wahdan, the name of the masseur. Pak Wahdan is a super duper magic person. He is kind of having a supernatural power. I am being too much ha ha ha, but one thing to notice is that in the beginning of our meeting he could knew the problem I was facing, which was the job I didn't fit, by just looking at me. Wow . . what an impressive initial encounter it was! During the massage time by without telling him anything, he clarified this that these those of the problem condition which all were true in me.

This morning was the third or, I guess, the fourth time I went for Pak Wahdan's massage. As usual we talked a lot along the time and the topic he chose for me was more on job. I don't really know why he always preferred to talk about my job than the other parts of mine, such as love story I expected to discuss. *I wish. Somehow, he still felt pity toward my past one-year job. Thanks Pak.!!

Last but not least, thing to note and remember of what he told me is about Chinese saying on job. There are three good things to apply in relation to related to choose and run a job:
  1. first, you have to love the job
  2. second, you have to put the job in your soul,
  3. third, you have to focus on or be diligent in that job.
Those will lead me to be successful in my career. He said so. He also reminds me not to be 'tolak pinggang', meaning arrogant, once I succeed. Because it will ruin my everything.

Thanks, Pak Wahdan for the advices . . . I really get good learning today.

2 Keys for Public Speaking

Public speaking course was something I was about to register myself to join in. But considering only 5 sessions of 12 that I can attend, I consulted with Pak Aryo, the former of Eltira radio station manager and the current marketing manager head of Elti, who knows the trainer I was about to chose pretty well and knows this kind of stuff very well. We got a lot to talk. But from the main point of our conversation, I got two simple keys of public speaking given by him. Here they are :
  1. product knowledge ; should know what is going to convey to the audience,
  2. mental ; should be brave and need to practice it frequently.
After thinking twice, I postpone to take the course because I actually have experienced with those two  keys, what I need to do is just practising, and also I prefer to take a better institution, John Robert Power, that I may take next year. However those two keys are good to remember when speaking for public.

Thank you, Pak Aryo, for the lesson.
